NEW CAMPO MARZIO
AISIMULATION
GAME
New Campo Marzio is an open-ended, zero player simulation game powered by artificial intelligence.
It is based on Giovanni Battista Piranesi's important Campo Marzio drawing from 1762.
The simulation utilizes a neural network to learn the features of the original drawing and then generate 3d worlds of infinite Campo variations. The worlds serve as hosts for the autonomous agents that become the new Campo inhabitants.
Made in collaboration with Casey Rehm and Laure Michelon.
The project was exhibited at Ars Electronica virtual exhibition of 2020.
Made with Unreal Engine and
Houdini.
